Kebed Songs: A Somali Weaving Songs Workshop with Ibrahim Hirsi
Join poet Ibrahim Hirsi at Cartwright Hall for an afternoon exploring Somali weaving songs, known as kebed songs.
We’ll listen to and discuss these songs together, then experiment with their rhythm and form as inspiration to write songs of our own. The session ends with an informal sharing circle, where participants are welcome (but not required) to share what they’ve written.
No experience necessary, just an interest in stories, songs, and poetry.
