We are pleased to announce that all gallery spaces within Cartwright Hall have now reopened following essential building repairs. There are further works taking place in other parts of the building, so at times there may still be noise generated by the contractors. We apologise for any disruption caused by these works taking place to safeguard the future of the building.
Along with selected artworks from the permanent collection, our upstairs galleries are home to our David Hockney exhibition and our Calm Gallery – a co-curated project between All Star Ent’s and Bradford District Museums & Galleries. Jadughor – The Magic Room, the Print Gallery and our Women in Uniform exhibition by Shy Burhan are all available on our Ground Floor.
Cartwright Hall is open from 10am-4pm on Tuesday-Friday and 11am-4pm on Saturday & Sunday. Please check our home page or social media for Bank Holiday openings.

The Art Gallery is Highly commended: Museums and Heritage Award
Cartwright Hall Art Gallery is one of the U.K's leading regional art galleries. Situated in the picturesque Lister Park, the civic art gallery has permanent art collections. In addition, the gallery plays host to a number of temporary in-house curated exhibitions and visiting exhibitions, working with partners such as the National Portrait Gallery, V&A Museum of Childhood, the British Museum in London and many more national and international venues. The art gallery is one of four sites and is council run. It very much depends upon private donations, business sponsorship, grants from trust and foundations, admission charges and the support of our benefactors, donors and friends.
Our Learning Team runs a programme of workshops and events for schools, groups and individuals. Please visit the Learning section of the website for more details or email Learning@bradford.gov.uk
