Health and Wellbeing

Bradford District Museums and Galleries are committed to improving health and wellbeing. We use our unique combination of collections, heritage buildings and green spaces to reduce health inequalities.

We provide opportunities to increase wellbeing through activities that connect heritage, creativity and health.

Because we know our museums can play an important role in improving mental and physical wellbeing, we are developing a health and wellbeing programme by working closely with community groups and health partners during 2026.

Our Conversation Café sessions can be booked by community groups and organisations at Cartwright Hall, Cliffe Castle and Bradford Industrial Museum.
As part of the project, museum staff are creating online Sharing our Stories sessions that can be accessed from the comfort of a care home or from your own home when you are ready to watch!
Bradford Museums and Galleries can offer groups visiting the museums, community centres or care homes the chance to use Memory Boxes to reminisce, encourage conversations, build confidence and share stories.
Experience our sites through a beautiful sensory walk created by filmmaker David Hare. Exploring the sights, sounds, wildlife and natural surroundings you can encounter during your visit, this film offers a calming way to connect with nature.
