Memory Boxes

Bradford Museums and Galleries can offer groups visiting the museums, community centres or care homes the chance to use Memory Boxes to reminisce, encourage conversations, build confidence and share stories.

Our Memory Boxes currently cover three different themes:

House and Home – Domestic objects in from homes from the 60’s onwards, including teapots, vases, telephones and karaoke machines! We have images from our photography archive of local houses and homes to accompany the objects.

My Bradford –  Images of Bradford from the 1960s to present time. Images include John Street Market, Buzby’s and Brown Muffs Store. We have images of the old bus station in Bradford and the city centre before it was all redeveloped. If you have a special place or time, let us know and we will do our best to find images for you to explore.

Games and Play – Original board games from the 1960’s onwards, including mouse trap, Keyword, LOTTO, The Beetle Game and more. The games are ready to play or just take a look at the boxes and all the parts included to remember the games played over the years.

The boxes are bookable in advance and can be delivered for a specific outreach session or left for groups to explore at their own pace.

If you have a special request, please email us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. museumcommunityengagement@bradford.gov.uk
