Collections Development Policy

Thank you for considering donating an item to Bradford District Museums & Galleries.

Bradford District Museums & Galleries Service exists to collect, record, conserve, exhibit and interpret the human and natural heritage of Bradford. To meet this aim Bradford District Museums & Galleries only acquires material that relates to and tells the story of Bradford and its social, natural, archaeological, industrial and art history and development and items that link to its current collections.

At the moment we are only able to consider donations that relate directly to Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture. If your donation relates to Bradford 2025, please read the offering an item to the museum  document to understand the process and contact the collections team via email with details of the object/s, photographs, and any additional information.

Bradford District Museum & Galleries
Bradford District Museums & Galleries (BDMG)’s collections have developed over more than 150 years, even before a museum service existed in the district.

The collection comprises some 38,000 items, the majority of which is excavated pot sherds.
