As local mill-working children, pupils experience firsthand ‘half timers’ lessons at the Moorside Board School under the instruction of a Victorian school master or mistress.
Pupils will get into character with Victorian names, registers, songs and schoolwork including copywriting with dip pens, using slates and an object lesson.
With original artefacts to explore pupils will also discuss wider life in Victorian Bradford, the significance of the mill industry, and impacts of local educational reform on children in the city.
You can book teacher led add-on activities to link to this workshop to create a whole day package.
