In a typical Bradford back-to-back house, pupils have a ‘hands on’ washday experience using washboards, possers, dolly blue and the mangle. They explore how washing has changed in the last seventy years. They also investigate objects from the past and use enquiry skills to work out what they were used for. By comparing different objects and photographs, as well as using their washdays experience, they will find out how life and technology is different between then and now.
