Young Ambassadors 2026

Applications for the 2026 cohort are now open: 

Bradford Museums and Galleries are recruiting Young Ambassadors to help showcase Bradford’s historic heritage, renowned fine art collection and connections to everyone living in Bradford.

Time Commitment:

  • Have you a few hours to prepare for and attend meetings every 4-6 weeks?
  • Some additional time to be involved in extra projects throughout the year too, dependent on what the cohort project will be.

Role Duration:

  • You can be a Young Ambassador until your 26th
  • Cohort one to start February 2026 to February 2027

Salary:

None, voluntary role, expenses are available to cover travel and special visits to other organisations.

Who will you meet?

Museums and Galleries staff including the Head of Museums, Bradford Council departments, volunteer teams and many other cultural partners.

Location:

At all 4 museums:

  • Bolling Hall Museum, West Bowling
  • Bradford Industrial Museum, Eccleshill
  • Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, Lister Park, Manningham
  • Cliffe Castle Museum, Keighley

About Bradford Museums and Galleries

Bradford District is home to some of the most exciting museums and galleries in Yorkshire. From the splendour of Cartwright Hall Art Gallery to the spectacular Keighley’s Cliffe Castle Museum, there is always something new to do or see, and admission is free! Specialist museums like Bradford Industrial Museum and Bolling Hall Museum and Library bring our District’s history and heritage to life through ever-changing activities, events and displays.

The role:

You will have the opportunity, led by the young ambassador cohort, to:

  • Have access behind the scenes at all 4 museums.
  • Training – this may include specific training for events.
  • Support from experienced staff around the Museums.
  • Travel reimbursed (you’ll just need to give us the receipts).
  • Snacks and drinks when attending meetings at the Museums.
  • Signposting to other events and opportunities for young people.
  • Participating in meetings
  • Having your voice heard regarding the future of Museums.
  • Curating a new project
  • Shadowing and supporting staff and projects.
  • Create film, blogs, vlogs for our website.
  • Become a Lead Ambassador

The skills you learn will be things that you can include on a future CV, and you will gain referees for future job references.

For example, in 2024, the young ambassadors produced their own 4 public workshops with their selected artists at each museum. The 2025 cohort produced and curated the Z Open art exhibition at Bradford Industrial Museum which you can visit until 8 March 2026, Tues – Sun. FREE entry.

Is this you?

Aged 16-25

  • Love arts, heritage and culture and keen to learn more
  • Committed to enabling young people to participate more in culture and heritage
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and have new experiences
  • Confident about working in a group
  • Reliable and able to commit to Bradford Museums and Galleries each month.

Closing date: Monday 26 January 2026 (10am)

Recruitment selection:  Sunday 8 February, Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, 12.30pm to 4pm.
