About The Event

Location

Bradford Industrial Museum
235 Moorside Rd, Eccleshill, Bradford BD2 3HP

Join the Weaving Gallery volunteers and handmade knitwear to peruse and buy with Bradford Guild of Weavers, Spinners, and Dyers.

This International Women’s Day, we remember the ladies (and children) in our mills, the backbone of the textile industry – hear the real voices and memories of mill workers from the Heritage Recording Unit, Bradford Museums and Galleries.

Drop in, have a chat with our very friendly volunteers, and perhaps have a try yourself at some spinning or weaving, completely free! Bask in the sounds and atmosphere of a real woollen mill and celebrate.

See the Buttercross Belles Morris dancers who dance Northwest style, originating from the mill towns, using bobbins and spindles. They often represent the movement of the machinery. Their outfits are suffragette colours of green, white, and purple. Ladies/women Morris groups often danced at suffragette meetings. They later struggled to be recognised in the 1970s folk revival due to it being considered a male-only tradition.

LILY & LISTER, COFFEE SHOP
Will provide a unique event space in the museum selling their signature ethically sourced, fresh roasted coffee, cake, and sausage rolls from Ilkley. Two sisters who met with a coffee expert in Haworth sharing a passion for ethically produced coffee from small farmers worldwide.
