Drumming Workshop with Diego

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

About this event

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Cartwright Hall Art Gallery

During this workshop with Diego, you will learn the basics of Djembe drumming: how to position the Djembe, how to position your hands on the drum, how to make the three different sounds: tone, slap and bass, and you will of course also learn a few rhythms!
By the end of the session, we will all be playing a rhythm together.
Diego, founder of Djembe Ollin, is a West-African drums musician and teacher. He fell in love with the djembe 20 years ago, in Mexico, his home country, where there is a big culture around Djembe and West-African music. Since moving to Leeds in early 2010s, he’s been playing gigs, teaching and sharing his love for West-African rhythms with the community.
Limited spaces – Contact Cartwright Hall on 01274 431212 or email Cartwright.Hall@bradford.gov.uk  aimed at approx. 8+ years old.
