This exhibition is a culmination of work made by the participants of the Flourish Project delivered by Hive – an Arts Charity based in Shipley and funded by The Henry Smith Foundation – who work to reduce social and economic disadvantage. The project worked with refugees and residents of Bradford, Keighley and West Bowling discussing issues affecting quality of life in a supportive and safe environment.
The foot artwork featured in the exhibition represents the journeys the participants have made. Work made by refugees was exhibited during Refugee Week in June 2021 – where the theme was “We Cannot Walk Alone” – a quote from Martin Luther King’s historic ‘I have a dream’ speech – also a fitting title for this exhibition.
Work made by the group in Keighley is featured in the new Bounceback Food CIC Charity Cookbook: Secret Dishes From Around the World 3.
