Maurice Broomfield – Photographer
This session will focus on an exhibition from the V & A Museum, of black and white photographs by Maurice Broomfield in which the drama of the ‘heyday of British Industry’ takes centre stage. After an introduction to the exhibition, we will join photo archivist of the Bradford Photography Collections, John Ashton, in seeking out photos of similar themes in the Archive.
Armed with your camera phones you might then like to experiment yourself amongst the monumental machinery in the mill, adjusting as Maurice did using his camera, colour, tone and contrast using the simple editing tools on your phone. We will also have charcoal, paper and boards available to explore the subject matter more directly as artists such as Edna Lumb or June Russell have in their prints and paintings.
