About this event

Bradford Industrial Museum

Come see the new emotive and vibrant textile installation ‘New Lands – Hidden Hands’ by visual artist and designer Rhian Kempadoo-Millar. The three textile panels, embedded into the burling and mending area in the Weaving Gallery, respond to personal and hidden stories woven into the diaspora of the City which created contemporary Bradford as we know it today.

The emotional warp,
The physical weft,
Creating the fabric of a new society.

Bradford District Museums and Galleries has been working with Rhian as our Guest Curator/Artist on an Arts Council-supported project. Rhian has explored Bradford Museums’ Designated Worsted collection to draw out its contemporary relevance and the hard work of the diverse communities that made the district international significant, leading to this reinterpretation of the permanent textile displays at Bradford Industrial Museum.
