Social History

The majority of material is local social history, including agricultural and craft tools, and comprises some 57,837 objects. Notable sections within it are Costume and Textiles (14%), collected primarily on the basis of Bradford’s history in textile manufacturing, and Domestic Material (16%). There is also a small but significant collection of material relating directly to Cliffe Castle and the Butterfield family (3%).
