Natural Science: Zoology

There are approximately 90,000 zoology specimens of which over 70% are invertebrate zoology including entomology and conchology. Approximately 8% are vertebrate specimens comprising study skins and taxidermy mounts. The Entomology Collection includes important voucher specimens of the Bilberry Shield Bug (Elasmucha ferrogatta), the ichneumon Coelichneumon bileneatus and the only Yorkshire record of the Vestal Moth, Rhodometra sacraria. The oldest example of the Airedale Terrier, Bloss, dating to 1898, is on display at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley.
