The Flourish Project: We Cannot Walk Alone

October 8, 2021

TUE 16 NOV 2021 – SUN 8 MAY 2022

This exhibition is a culmination of work made by the participants of the Flourish Project delivered by Hive – an Arts Charity based in Shipley and funded by The Henry Smith Foundation – who work to reduce social and economic disadvantage.

The project worked with refugees and residents of Bradford, Keighley and West Bowling discussing issues affecting quality of life in a supportive and safe environment.

The foot artwork represents the journeys the participants have made. The title ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’ is a quote from Martin Luther King’s historic ‘I have a dream’ speech in 1963 demanding racial justice and an integrated society.

Work made by the participants based in Keighley is also featured in the new BouncebackFood CIC Charity Cookbook Secret Dishes From Around the World 3.

Many of our visitors to Cliffe Castle earlier this year enjoyed the exhibition of artwork inspired by or depicting Samurai that we had on display in the Bracewell Smith Hall. Although the artworks are now safely back in storage, we wanted to be able to share them with you still, so Dale Keeton, our talented conservator, who made it all look spectacular and Ernest, our wonderful volunteer have written this blog to provide some additional insights.
