Blog: From Volunteer to Lead Ambassador: My Journey with Bradford District Museums and Galleries

Since the start of February this year, I have been volunteering with Bradford District Museums and Galleries as a Museum Young Ambassador. I have loved visiting museums and learning about history since childhood, so being able to participate in meetings exploring what the future of museums could look like, as well as increasing engagement in museum collections has been both eye-opening and fascinating.

I’ve also had the opportunity of volunteering at museum events such as International Women’s Day at Bradford Industrial Museum and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival at Bolling Hall Museum. It’s always so enjoyable seeing the general public visit the museums and take part in these events!

As of this month, I am delighted to announce that I have been appointed as a Lead Museum Young Ambassador for Bradford District Museums and Galleries. This is a paid role funded by the Friends of Bradford Art Galleries and Museums. I’m looking forward to contributing my skills to help showcase Bradford’s historic heritage, renowned fine art collection and connections to everyone living in Bradford.
