In her workshop exhibiting artist Charmaine Watkiss will ask participants to consider ideas about memory and the objects which evoke them.
Using works in the gallery as a starting point they will make drawings combining objects of sentimental value they have brought in with elements from the gallery’s collection using pencil, coloured pencil, masking tape, tracing paper. Charmaine writes ‘ it would be interesting to see the participant’s memory drawings of their object overlayed onto the portrait in the collection that they respond to – and see what happens in terms of altering it’s meaning or bringing about a new narrative somehow.’
Charmaine Watkiss currently has a solo exhibition at Leeds Art Gallery.
