This display showcases a selection of dresses from the collections of Bradford District Museums and Galleries, which were recently displayed at Bankfield Museum, as part of an exhibition looking at fashion during the life of Anne Lister (1791 – 1840). Anne wrote detailed diaries, which gave an insight into her life as a landowner, business woman, intrepid traveller and lesbian.
These costumes highlight the changes in women’s fashion during this period and the introduction of pattern and colour. We discuss the technological advancements and the hidden dangers of fashion!
Please note that this display is on the first floor and access is via a staircase.
