Creative Connecting and Contemporary Reminiscence Programme
Creative Connecting and Contemporary Reminiscence Programme
During 2025 Bradford District Museums and Galleries worked in partnership with Bradford Care Association (BCA) on a project funded by the Bradford 2025 Creative Health Programme.
This project took place between February 2025 and January 2026 and focused on creating opportunities for people of all ages who draw upon care and support to access our collections, activities, events and green spaces at each of our sites.
During this time groups visited our museums and took part in wellbeing walks, Tai Chi exercises, drawing and listening activities, gallery talks and tours, making and crafting. These activities were aimed at supporting groups, activity co-ordinators and social prescribers to access our museums with the support they need.
As a result of this work the BCA and Bradford Museums have created wellbeing resources for each location including details of activities, online and in person walks and events that you can take part in to improve mental and physical wellbeing. Anyone can use the pack from activity co-ordinators at care homes to individuals who are interested in improving their health.
We will be adding events and activities throughout the year so watch this space!

Memory Boxes
Inspired by the conversations and connections with objects made through this project Bradford Museums and Galleries are pleased to offer groups the opportunity to use themed memory boxes when they visit, to explore memories and connections to inspire conversations and build confidence.
The Memory Boxes have different themes including Games and Play, House and Home and My Bradford.

Online Reminiscence sessions
As part of the project museum staff are creating online Reminiscence sessions that can be accessed from the comfort of a care home or from your own home when you are ready to watch!
Our first session is a Christmas Celebration from Cliffe Castle where museum staff send Christmas greetings and look at some of the Christmas Cards in the collection.
Watch this space during 2026 as we add more links to Reminiscence sessions including looking at crafting throughout the years and images of Bradford.
