Programming & Exhibitions
Unfortunately, we can only pursue a small proportion of applications received.
We usually finalise the programme a minimum of twelve months in advance, although some exhibitions will be agreed much further in advance to allow appropriate time for research, development and fundraising.
We strongly recommend that proposals are received as early as possible, ideally around eighteen months in advance of a possible display date.
Bradford Museums & Galleries Exhibitions Group (BM&GEG) meets four times a year in March, June, September and December to consider the exhibition programme and proposals.
The group considers the following:
- Does the exhibition proposal reflect strategic aims and audience development ambitions of Bradford Museums & Galleries?
- Does the programme support provide opportunities to involve/ display the work of Bradford District residents?
- Does the exhibition have the potential to attract new audiences?
- Does the exhibition have broad public appeal? Is it sufficiently attractive and relevant to a diverse audience, or a more specific agreed audience?
- How much will it cost to produce? Does the proposer have specific funding for the exhibition?
- Are there any practical or resourcing implications/difficulties?
- What associated events and activities are planned to promote and complement the exhibition?
Proposals are considered on the merits of the individual proposal and on how it meets with our public programme as a whole. The type of exhibition proposed and the audience it may attract will guide decision making.
If your proposal is successful, a member of the Programming team will be in touch to let you know. Please download a proposal form here and, when completed, send to programming@bradford.gov.uk
Please note: Due to a full programme schedule we are no longer able to accept requests for external organisations’ exhibition proposals, or for gallery space hire, until April 2026.
