The paintings presented in this exhibition depict plants mentioned in the text of the Holy Qur’ān.

It is the culmination of a research project lasting several years, undertaken by Kew scientists Dr Shahina Ghazanfar and Dr Shirley Sherwood, and botanical artist Sue Wickison.

The exhibition Plants of the Qur’an was first shown at The Shirley Sherwood Gallery at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 2023.
