About this event

Cliffe Castle Museum

As part of the “Connect Keighley” project funded by the lottery, the Wellbeing Weaving project has been led and coordinated by Keighley Healthy Living since January 2023. The project has included a range of community groups across Keighley and the wider area, to create a shared artwork aiming to bring people together and celebrate Keighley’s rich textile heritage.
Each group learnt how to weave on a simple circular cardboard loom and experimented using different wools, colours and techniques. Some groups used some remnants of the material from the curtains in the Drawing Room in Cliffe Castle and incorporated it into their artwork to make connections with the heritage of Cliffe Castle.
We would like to thank the groups who took part including The Conversation Café and Positive Vibes group at Keighley Healthy Living, “Have a Bash” Craft Group at The Good Shepherd Centre, Mohila’s Wellbeing Group at Holycroft Primary School, Wharfedale Pathways in llkley, The Shed at Oakworth, Sukoon e dil at Highfields Community Association, and Eden Community Association.
