About this event

8 March 2026 11:00 am – 8 March 2026 3:00 pm
Bradford Industrial Museum

This International Women’s Day, drop in, have a chat with our very friendly volunteers, and perhaps have a try yourself at some spinning or weaving. Bask in the sounds and atmosphere of a real woollen mill and celebrate.

See the Buttercross Belles Morris dancers who dance Northwest style, originating from the mill towns, using bobbins and spindles. They often represent the movement of the machinery. Their outfits are suffragette colours of green, white, and purple. Ladies/women Morris groups often danced at suffragette meetings. They later struggled to be recognised in the 1970’s folk revival due to it being considered a male only tradition.
