About this event

All Day –
Cliffe Castle Museum

We have been delighted to be able to display at Cliffe Castle, the SEW KEIGHLEY PRIDE flag.
Keighley Pride’s unique and beautiful flag was created from hundreds of handmade patches, made by local people and children this spring and summer. You might even have spotted our yellow Museum gazebo hosting some of the outdoor patch making days outside in Cliffe Castle Park.
The patches that make up the flag are a celebration of people’s LGBTIQA+ inspirations and featuring local figures, organisations, friends, family, and peoples’ personal journeys. The Sew Keighley Pride exhibition at Cliffe Castle, marks an historic moment in the UK’s relationship with gender, sexuality and identity.
Based on the Progress Pride Flag design, the patches were brought together by Morwenna Catt, an internationally renowned textile artist into a stunning piece of textile art.
Launched at the Keighley Pride in August 2021,  and displayed subsequently in our conservatory, it’s now heading off to share its fascinating stories with new audiences – first stop – Skipton!
