DesignLab Nation is the V&A’s national schools programme aiming to inspire the next generation of designers, makers and innovators. It brings together secondary schools in partnership with the V&A, regional museums and Industry Partners to inspire students and support teachers through in-depth design projects.
Working with a local architect, Stefanie Stead MBE, students from three different secondary schools, Carlton Bolling, Coop Academy Grange, and Dixons Allerton were set a ‘Design Challenge’ to find a solution to navigate people between the two railway stations: Bradford Forster Square and Bradford Interchange. The journey between the two stations can be misleading, unclear and inaccessible. The task was to explore this challenge, and design signage or a sculpture that can be on the floor, wall or standalone to help make someone’s journey easier and happier
