We Are Bradford: People

An selection of artworks and social history items from the gallery and museum collections portraying Bradford, celebrating the district's talents and inspiration.

With links to Islamic Calligraphy via artist Soraya Syed and to the Bicentenary of the Parliamentary abolition of the Slave Trade with artist Errol Francis, to Bradford's own glass designer Kalim Afsal and Manningham based photographer Nudrat Afza and of course, David Hockney.

From innovators such as Titus Salt, Christopher Pratt and the Bronte sisters to reformists Miriam Lord, Margaret Macmillan and Richard Oastler, visit this display of Bradford's history and talent. Its forward thinking, reactionary strength and challenging inspiration.

This exhibition is in partnership with the four other West Yorkshire Local Authority Museum Services (Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield) as part of a celebration of our gallery and museum collections relating to the theme 'We are West Yorkshire: A Celebration of People and Place'.
