Join press photographer Paul Ellis as he talks about his career, assignments and photography.
Paul has been a staff photographer with Agence France-Presse in the north of England since 2006. He studied photojournalism with the NCTJ in Sheffield before taking the traditional route in to the industry at a weekly newspaper. he quickly moved on to press agencies in Liverpool, Manchester adn Leeds before joining in the Manchester Evening News, The Press Association and The Sentinel in Stoke-on-Trent. Later he freelanced for The Associated Press, The Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and The Independent before joining AFP.
Over the past fifteen years he has covered a mixture of breaking news, politics, royal visits, royal weddings, Papal visits, state funerals and much more. On the sporting front, he is most often found at Premier and Champions League football matches, international tournaments including World Cups in football, rugby and cricket. Gold championships, snooker, horse racing, olympic and paralympic events as well as cultural events across the country are all in a days work and every day is different in the life of an international agency photographer.
