Multi-award-winning photographer Danny Lawson joined the UK's press agency the Press Association in 2005. He has travelled internationally photographing royal tours, the refugee crisis and major sporting events. Danny has also spent time embedded with the British Armed Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the UK he was privileged to cover the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The majority of Danny's time is spent covering breaking news and features across the North of England. Danny loves to photograph regional events in a creative and artistic manner and regularly sees his work published in The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian along with other national newspapers and websites.
His first role within the media industry came in 1998 when he obtained a job working in the darkroom of his local paper, the Rochdale Observer. Within a year Danny gained a job as a staff photographer for Greater Manchester Weekly Newspapers. In 2002 he joined Scotland's leading press agency Deadline Scotland. The Edinburgh Evening News headhunted Danny in 2004, where in addition to his photographic duties he provided regular cover for various postitions on the Picture Desk including Picture Editor and Deputy Picture Editor.
Since becoming part of the Press Association team Danny has made a name for himself as one of the UK's leading press photographers. He currently holds the titles of Photographer of the Year (Picture Editor's Guild Awards), News Photographer of the Year (Press Association Awards), Photographer of the Year (Society of Editor's Awards) and News Photographer of the Year (Press Association Awards). He has previously won Overall Photo of the Year (News Media Association Awards), Picture Agency Rota Photo of the Year (News Media Association Awards), News Photographer of the Year (Press Association Awards), Commend Arts and Entertainment cartography (Picture Editor's Guild Awards), finalist News Photographer of the Year (Scottish Press Awards) and finalist News Photographer of the Year (Scottish Press Photography Awards).
