10,000 Tales: Belle Vue Studio Collection (Entrance display)
Although the Belle Vue Studio Collection has been stored in the Bradford Museums Photo Archive for over thirty years, a number of events this year have brought it back into prominence.
Firstly, in the spring over 10,000 Belle Vue negatives were digitised and made available on our website. Most of these had not seen the light of day for almost half a century,
Then a number of Belle Vue Studio images were featured here in our successful 'Studio to Selfie' exhibition while visitors to Cartwright Hall were pleased to see a further selection in the innovative and ever changing 'Gallery 5' display. More Belle Vue Studio pictures were shown in the 'Above the Noise' exhibition at the National Science and Media Museum.
In October the BBC broadcast 'Hidden History: Lost Potraits of Bradford' which featured the collection. This caused a huge amount of interest and many people came forward to give us information about their family members or themselves in photographs taken at the Belle Vue Studio.
On display in the Entrance are a few of the people who have been identified. We're sure there are many more to come. Please go to our website to see if you recognise anyone. If you do, let us know either at recption or email [email protected]
