A Thread Running Through: ‘A piece of history’

Cliffe Castle Museum

Sat 9 Nov 2019

Make do and Mend!

Add your favourite scraps of fabric to our collective piece or take home to use yourself, with our free workshop.  It is being run by Textilia3 in conjuction with their new exhibition 'A Thread Running Through'

Learn how Victorian families made patchwork fabrics from old clothes, ribbons and off-cuts of fabric.  Nothing was wasted and everyone from the lady of the house to the poorest worker would use the same technique of English paper piecing.

We will have all the tools and materials needed to make a small sample patchwork, but participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric too.

Suitable for all ages, beginners and experienced sewers alike.  There will be plenty of help on hand throughout the session.
