Family Craft Volunteer

What’s involved?

  • To maintain a presence in the gallery
  • To create a warm, friendly welcome to the space
  • To answer visitors’ questions
  • To look after and help deliver the family craft activities.
  • To monitor the condition of all aspects of the activities and point out to staff if any aspect of it needs attention
  • To observe that visitors and their children behave appropriately in the gallery and if necessary politely ask them not to bring food or drink in to the gallery
  • To direct people to other areas of the museum and facilities e.g. the toilets
  • Volunteers to remain professional and positive in their approach to the family activity and understand that they may be seen by the public as representing Bradford District Museums and Bradford Council.
  • The Volunteer Coordinator will make visits throughout and will be available for support and troubleshooting
  • On a day-to-day basis, volunteers to report to Front-of-house staff on arrival and departure, signing in at reception and collecting their lanyard.
  • You will receive an induction necessary to the role including full health and safety. All short-listed applicants will be required to attend a short, informal interview.

What do I need to know?

  • Please wear clean, smart/ casual clothes for this role
  • Please sign in when you arrive and let a member of the museum assistant team know you are here
  • Leave your personal possessions in the locker provided
  • A drink may be taken before and after your shift and tea and coffee, biscuits will be provided
  • At the end of your shift please return your lanyard to the front desk and sign out when you leave
