January's object of the month is chosen by Aitor Gonzalez.
'Hello! My name is Aitor Gonzalez, I am the new PA intern for Maggie Pedley and I am based at Bolling Hall. I recently graduated in Fine Art in Spain and moved here shortly after to explore the incredible cultural heritage of Yorkshire. Although it has been very difficult for me to choose between all the amazing objects in the Bradford Collections, I have finally picked this oil painting, a portrait of Captain Charles Wood of Barnsley held at Bolling Hall Museum. Charles and his wife were one of the last owners of the estate when they moved to Bolling Hall in 1775. During his stay they employed the architect John Carr of York to redesign some parts of the building into a Georgian Style fashion. This painting can be found on the east wing, as you come along the elegant stone stairs and is in front of a painting of his wife. I really like the aesthetic and the details of the costume in the painting. It takes you to another time and helps you to understand how people presented themselves to society during the Georgian era.'
