About The Event

Location

Cartwright Hall Art Gallery
Lister Park, Bradford BD9 4NS

We are delighted to welcome Esna Su to Bradford to deliver this workshop as well as a talk at 2pm on Thursday 6th October at Cartwright Hall about her work.

The haunting collection called The Burden, of which we now have one piece, is based on the the experience of Syrian people displaced by conflict, as they gather precious belongings into a bag on their backs.

London based Textile Artist Esna Su, invites you to join her very unique workshop in which she shares the process behind her ‘The Burden’ collection. This is in conjunction with Bradford Museum acquiring Su’s piece for its permanent collection. The techniques you will go through include cutting cord from leather, knitting, and stretching your knitted piece to achieve a unique shape. If you know how to knit, great! If not, you’ll be introduced to knitting. At the end of your workshop, you will be able to complete a sculptural knitted sample of approximately 20x22cm.
