Musical Rocks by Bobbie Millar
Bobbie has been working with musical rocks since 2003 when she, together with Professor Dame Jane Francis, Dr Kia Ng and David Walker Barker, created Yorkshire Quarry Arts at the University of Leeds. She has worked in the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and the Lake District and now Cliffe Castle creating musical instruments from different types of rock and delivering cross disciplinary workshops in schools.
Bobbie will talk about the journey from hillside to quarry to the stonemason and the musician. She will share some photos and clips of these instruments being played AND we will have a chance to play both the historic Phillipson instrument and try out the new Learning Sets.
