On 22nd July at 2pm, we are delighted to welcome Tim Neal of the Keighley and District Local History Society, who will be giving a talk that celebrates the life and works of local artist, Stan Boardman.
Stan’s work is currently on display in Cliffe Castle Museum’s Art Gallery to celebrate his first exhibition 50 years ago. Once you have seen Stan’s 1920s work depicting his memories of growing up in Keighley between the world wars, you will want to learn more!
The 1920s ‘Boy’ paintings made Stan a public name: whilst they show hard times in Keighley, they do so with a sense of humour. The paintings were donated to the Keighley and District History Society by Jill Osborne, daughter of the late artist, in 2017, and are on show in the museum until September.
