After previous successful Young Open exhibitions, the highly aniticipated event is returning to celebrate young artist's work from Bradford. The Young Open provides an opportunity for artists 16 and under to submit their work to an open exhibition in Bradford's civic art gallery, Cartwright Hall.
The theme this year is: Inspired by Hockney and animals. It's David Hockney's 80th birthday in July, celebrate the Bradford artist by making your own paper pulp, collage, drawing, painting or photographing - or use your tablet! We have many animals on show this summer too in the gallery - come in beforehand and see 'Animal Craft' by UK designers and 'Splendours of India' from the Her Majesty the Queen's Royal Collection in London!
Bring in your artwork from home or teachers and community groups - submit a whole series!
Entry forms are available to download here or pop in to one of our buildings to collect your's.
Judges include Sarah Harris, artist, Christine Halsall, Chair of the Friends of Bradford Art Galleries and Museums and David Horn, Head Teacher, Beckfoot School and Chief Executive Officer of the Beckfoot Trust.
By incuding Bradford's diverse communities and younger age categories the outcome will explore various medium and imagery/design. The Young Open exhibition will appeal to all ages to share the pride of the young people of Bradford.
Prizegiving will be on Sunday 2 July, 1 - 3pm - join the summer party!
